In a strategic move to combat coastal erosion in Demak Regency, PT Siam Flotilla Persada has entered into a partnership with Diponegoro University (Undip). This collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and a Cooperation Agreement at Undip's Rectorate Meeting Room on January 31, 2025.
The partnership focuses on developing and implementing eco-friendly technological solutions to protect and manage the coastal areas of Demak. A key innovation in this initiative is the Flotilla Abrasion Defense System (FADS), designed to safeguard shorelines by emulating the natural functions of mangrove ecosystems.
Andi Hartayo, Director of PT Siam Flotilla Persada, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainable coastal management, stating that the collaboration aims to provide innovative and lasting solutions that benefit both the environment and local communities.
Undip's Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, SE, MSi, highlighted the university's expertise in coastal development and expressed optimism that this partnership would effectively address coastal erosion challenges in Demak. He noted that such collaborations align with Undip's focus on coastal development, given its location along the northern coast of Java.
This initiative underscores the importance of synergy between academia and industry in addressing environmental issues, aiming to create a model for sustainable coastal management that can be replicated in other regions. https://www.jatengnews.id/2025/01/31/cegah-abrasi-pesisir-demak-pt-siam-flotilla-persada-gandeng-undip/?amp=1
